Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland é um ator de cinema e televisão inglês que atua nos Estados Unidos, conhecido principalmente por seu desempenho na série "24 Horas", da FOX, em que faz o papel de Jack Bauer, um agente da Unidade Contra-Terrorista.

"24 Horas", que já se encontra em sua 6ª temporada, rendeu um Prêmio Emmy e um Prêmio Globo de Ouro para Kiefer, além de indicações a vários outros prêmios.

Kiefer Sutherland é filho de Donald Sutherland, também famoso ator, e Shirley Douglas. Apesar de ter nascido na Inglaterra, foi criado no Canadá. Seu avô foi um importante político social-democrata canadense, Tommy Douglas, primeiro-ministro da região de Saskatchewan e fundador do sistema de seguridade social naquele país.

Kiefer sentiu-se atraído pela profissão de ator desde muito jovem. E, filme após filme, durante a década de 1980, acabou demonstrando sua enorme versatilidade. Atuou em: "Quando Chega o Amor" ("The Bay Boy") - que lhe rendeu um Genie Award -, "Conta Comigo" ("Stand by Me"), escrito por Stephen King, "Os Garotos Perdidos" ("The Lost Boys") e "Jovens Pistoleiros" ("Young Guns").

Na década de 1990 destacam-se suas participações em: "Questão de Honra" ("A Few Good Men") - ao lado de Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson e Demi Moore -, "A Namorada do Soldado" ("A Soldier's Sweetheart"), "Cidade das Sombras" ("Dark City"), "Pânico no Ar" ("Ground Control") e, ao lado de Bridget Fonda, "The Break Up".

Kiefer Sutherland também já dirigiu filmes. Entre eles, "Procura-se" e "Últimas Consequências", um thriller psicológico.

Durante os últimos anos, Kiefer atuou em "Juntando os Pedaços", "A Última das Guerras", "Assassinos de Aluguel", "Por um Fio", "Roubando Vidas" e "Sentinela".

Em 2001, ao lado de seu amigo, o produtor musical Jude Cole, Kiefer Sutherland abriu um estúdio dedicado ao lançamento de novos artistas, o Iron Works.

Kiefer Sutherland tem uma filha, Valentina, fruto de seu casamento com Karla Said.
